How do contact fees work?

When you reach out to someone for the first time, a small fee in USDC or USDT is transferred from your wallet directly to the recipient's wallet via a smart contract on BNB Smart Chain. After that initial contact, all messaging within the conversation is free. ChatPay does not take a percentage — the full fee goes to the person you're contacting. That's what makes ChatPay spam-resistant: spam bots can't afford to cold-message thousands of people, but a real human reaching out to one person is unaffected.

How much does it cost to contact someone?

Each user sets their own contact price in their profile settings. The amount is shown to you before you confirm sending the first message, so you always know what it costs.

Are messages within a conversation free?

Yes. Once you've established contact (paid the initial fee), all subsequent messages in that conversation are free. The fee only applies to the very first message to a new contact.

What about group chats?

Group chats include moderation tools such as user blocking and slow mode (rate-limiting messages) to keep conversations healthy and spam-free.

What if I lose my wallet?

ChatPay uses non-custodial wallets — your seed phrase stays on your device. If you lose your seed phrase, you lose access to your wallet permanently. ChatPay cannot recover wallets. We strongly recommend backing up your seed phrase securely (offline, encrypted).

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. Or email privacy@chatpayapp.com with subject "Delete My Account". Personal data is removed within 30 days, except blockchain data which is immutable.

Is ChatPay available in my country?

ChatPay is available worldwide except in jurisdictions that restrict cryptocurrency apps. If you can download from your local App Store or Google Play, you can use ChatPay.

How do I report abuse?

In any chat, tap the menu (•••) and select "Report user" or "Block user". We review reports within 24 hours.

What blockchain does ChatPay use?

ChatPay runs on BNB Smart Chain (BSC), one of the fastest and most affordable blockchains. Transaction fees on the network are absorbed by ChatPay (gasless experience for the user). The smart contract is verified at 0xbd287c...69b3e1.

Can I get a refund for a contact fee?

No. All blockchain transactions on BNB Smart Chain are irreversible by design. Once you contact someone and the fee is transferred to their wallet, the transaction cannot be reversed by ChatPay or by anyone else.

Is my wallet custodial or non-custodial?

Your wallet is fully non-custodial. ChatPay never has access to your private keys or seed phrase. Your funds are entirely under your control, secured by cryptographic keys stored on your device.

What encryption does ChatPay use?

Messages are end-to-end encrypted using elliptic-curve cryptography (Signal-style protocol). Encryption keys are generated and stored on your device. ChatPay cannot read your messages.
